IT’S NOT ALL PARADISE
Ok, I’ll admit it. We’re in Fortaleza, Brazil—one of the most beautiful places in the country. We’re staying on the 12th floor of a 13 story hotel and our room faces the ocean. But it’s not all paradise. After all, we’ve already trained three days in a Baptist church and have only seen one blind eye open!
WE’VE BEEN SENT TO PREPARE THE WORKERS FOR THE HARVEST COMING
We are the advance team for Randy Clark and a team of 140 people coming to Belem and then Fortaleza in September. We will be ministering in 8 churches, three nights each, teaching on a Biblical Basis For Healing, The Prayer Model and Recognizing Words Of Knowledge, and The Deliverance Model. We are to prepare the Brazilians here to join the US team during ministry time for 2 large crusade type meetings in which we are expecting 10,000 people each night. What has become evident immediately is that some of this move of the Holy Spirit is somewhat new to the churches of this area, but they are hungry, passionate, and they are united. Pastor Passion (great name, huh) is head of the association of approximately 200+ churches in Fortaleza and they are believing for revival here. So, while we are plowing new ground, it is fertile ground and we believe much fruit will come out of it. While Carol was reading Luke 10, she felt like she got a download from God. Jesus sent the seventy out two by two into the cities He was about to go into. That’s what Global Awakening has done with us. We are to prepare the workers because the harvest is truly great here. And Jesus and the outpouring of the Spirit is coming to Fortaleza and to Brazil!
NEW FOR THESE BAPTISTS, SAME FOR GOD
We started first in a Baptist church, pastored by Pastor Luiz, who is one of the main leaders for bringing Randy and the team in. Really, too many stories to tell of God’s amazing grace, mercy, healing and power. It’s all a little new for them, but we had 32 healed the first night from words of knowledge, the youth weeping on the floor in intercession, many manifestations from people who had never experienced that before, and many praying for someone for the first time and seeing them get healed! But I want to share two stories that really blessed us:
BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL
On Monday night I suddenly got the scripture in first Samuel 10 where it says Saul was “…turned into another man.” I felt like that would happen for many that night. I also got a word of knowledge by thought that there was someone who had had a motorcycle accident and was still in pain from it. Actually, three people responded to that, all got healed, but one was “changed.” Sort of a “two-for-one” deal. When I prayed for those who had responded to the words, John had all his pain of 6 years in his ankles and wrists as a result of the accident leave. Then when I prayed for the anointing for power later, he shook. And he shook, and he shook, and he shook for hours—but only from the waist down, complete peace above the waist. You can’t physically do this in the natural. I understand this—it’s what happened to me 12+ years ago, and my life was instantly and forever changed. Then he saw the blue light around him. We believe it was an indication of the healing angels that are assigned to this church, and to this man. He kept telling us he was profoundly changed.
I WAS BLIND—NOW I CAN SEE!!
After Carol taught Wednesday night on deliverance, we had them once again break into groups of 5 to pray for anyone who was sick or had pain. After all, when you get free, healing just comes easier—and many reported they had just been set free. It was a chance for them to practice what they had learned the previous night. At the same time Carol and I prayed for anyone who was blind, deaf, terminally ill or who had cancer. They brought one man to me who had to be in his 70’s. They told me he was completely blind in his left eye (and we tested it), had been involved in spiritism, and wasn’t a Christian. Now, if you really want to know, it’s not like I had a lot of faith that God was going to heal him, and I certainly didn’t “know” it was a done deal. But I did think “this could just be a divine setup.” Why would God heal this man when we had already prayed for several other blind and deaf people and had only seen marginal improvement—and they were saints in the Kingdom. But, He is a merciful, loving God, and “He does what He pleases” (Psalm 115). I led him in a prayer to receive Jesus, had him renounce his involvement with spiritism, and prayed for him to be filled with the Holy Spirit. He said he felt light, like he could fly. Bon—good. So, I prayed for his left eye to see and we tested him. His first comment was “I can see the color of your eyes.” Then I stepped away from him and began holding up fingers and he “saw” what I was holding up every time. Once I held both thumbs up and he said I was trying to trick him, and it was “dois—two.” I took a picture of the man, Paul, and then showed it to him in the viewer of the digital camera while he covered up his “good eye.” Now he was looking at it with his NEW “good eye!” I thought, “that’s got to be a thrill for him.”
YOU COULD COME TO BRAZIL
Tonight, we start the process over at the next church. This is incredibly fertile ground here in Brazil. LEAVING A DEPOSIT
One of the greatest rewards in ministry, and especially in this time of God’s outpouring of the Spirit, is to see the fruit of your ministry. We are leaving Saturday for Fortaleza, Brazil to train in 8 churches three nights each, and to speak in another 4 churches. We will be preparing them for two large Sports Arena type meetings, expecting 10,000 each night. We are training them in healing, deliverance and words of knowledge and they will be joining Randy Clark’s team of about 135 people from the US in praying for those who come to the meetings. Randy has made arrangements to bus in the poor from the favelas (poor neighborhoods) and there will also be feeding. It’s a perfect recipe for signs, wonders and miracles. So, it was exciting to hear of the deposit made when we were just recently in Sao Paulo in March/April.
16 YEAR OLD GIRL BONDS WITH CAROL
On the next to last night, we ministered in a church that was packed out with about 500+ youth and twentysomethings. It was one of those nights when heaven just seems to unzipper. Probably one of the most powerful nights we have ever experienced. During ministry time, a young 16 year old girl bonded to Carol and started following her around. She was very hungry to see God at work and it was very helpful to Carol, as she spoke some English. After watching Carol pray for many people and see the power of God touch them, many with healing, Carol told her “now it’s your turn.” He eyes got very big as if to say “who me?” But as she began to pray, many, many got healed. The more she prayed the drunker she got. Now, I don’t fully understand that, but something must have been going on because a new hunger and passion was being birthed. She just recently sent us this email to tell us what God has been doing with her since the meeting. Her English is not great, so I’ve taken the liberty to correct a few things so it can be understandable. Here’s her story:
“RISE UP AND WALK!”
“Then, last Tuesday we were in a reunion about evangelism, and I was going to Wizard English school and I say: ‘Father, I would like you send to me people who doesn’t know You and I’m not don’t mind if be a drunk, a prostitute or a rich person, but I would like you send somebody to me to talk about Jesus Christ.’ When I was going to Wizard I saw a drunk and I was feeling fear, and I say: ‘Father I’m not prepare yet.’ And in front of me had a woman, and she stopped the man, took a bible out of her bag and told to him about Jesus Christ. When I saw this, I started to cry on the street and I say to this woman: ‘ God bless you.’ So I continued my way to school. When I arrived at home, I prayed this: ‘ Dad , I want to be very useful in your hands like a vase of honour, please help me don’t be shy.’ When I was going to English school on Thursday, I saw a cripple in front of me and I say: ‘now it’s not a right moment, if he is here when I come back, I’m going there,’ and I continued my way. When I came back the cripple was there still, and I say: ‘Now it’s not the right moment, if he is here tomorrow, I’m going there.’ Arrived Friday and the man was there still, so I started to be with fear. When I passed in front of him , he told me: ‘I’m waiting for you, girl.’ In that time I didn’t know what I needed to do, And I say: ‘if he is there (when I come back) I’m not scared of this situation and I’m going to talk to him about Jesus.’ When I came back to school, the man was there and I say ‘Oh God, it’s now!’ So the man called me and say: ‘ I have a man dressed of white and He told me that you come here talk to me about a precious thing.’ So started to cry and told to that cripple about Jesus and a Big compassion and love took my heart in that moment, and I prayed to him, he received Jesus like his unique Lord. But, that man was cripple, and God told me ‘Pray to him to be cured.’ In that moment I didn’t believe in this , but I said ‘Dad, who bring miracles and cures it’s only you, please, use me now like a vase of honour!’ ‘So I say to that man, do you believe that God can cure you?’ And he told me, Jesus in the bible cured, but nowadays, can He cure? And I say: ‘Yes Jesus, nowadays can cure, only it’s necessary you believe in this. And now, do you believe?’ And he told me: Yes, I believe. So I started to pray to him and he started to feel all his body like taking a fire. When I stopped pray I say: ‘Get up and walk!’ That moment he got up and started to walk. We didn’t believe in that miracle in the first time, but we worship God, by that miracle.”
WHAT WILL GOD DO NEXT?
As you can imagine, all this has radically impacted her life. While there in April, Carol told her about the Youth Invasion coming to Curitiba in July. She followed thru on that, joined them there, and even got to teach on deliverance in one of the churches. A life turned upside down, and a healing evangelist birthed for the Kingdom—at 16 years old!!. We can’t wait to see what lies ahead on this upcoming trip.
