THE TEAM COMES AND DIVES IN
We are now fully into the Global Awakening missions trip to Sao Paulo. Randy Clark and the team of about 48 arrived on Wednesday morning the 14th and began meetings Thursday morning. There will be reports by team members that will be coming out, so I just want to give some observations.
It was really good to have some other people from the US join us, after 3 weeks here doing the training. Because of the relationship that has opened up, Randy was able to get to speak at the “snowball” church on Thursday night. Another pastor took a team to another church and Carol and I took a team to one of the influential churches here, one which is joined to Daniel Marins in putting on the event at the Gymnasium. This was the way it has gone since the team has arrived–training meetings in the morning and splitting of the team to go to different churches at night. The team was together, however for the gym meeting. This is the same gym Randy was in 5 years ago (think sports arena). This time there were more than 8000 people present, representing many different churches. We had Casa De Davi in for worship, and the sounds of heaven abounded. If you have never heard this worship team–I would encourage you to. They are carrying something very special, and they literally “walk in the heavenlies.” They are very well known here in Brazil, and Randy has had them to the US for conferences last year and will again in October when he has the East Coast conference.
SPIRITUAL WARFARE–NO PROBLEM
After the large Gym event Saturday, we once again began breaking up the team to go to different churches in the evenings, and participating in the morning meetings for a “Catch The Fire” conference. From our standpoint, one meeting really stands out. We took a team Monday night, the 19th, to Pastor Abraham’s church. We had previously trained at this church and had seen dramatic healings and incredible power released. Sunday night we were there in a building they had just moved into, and this was the first service held there. The building would hold 2000 (totally packed with no room to move) and it felt like there were at least 1000-1200 there, many standing because they had not gotten more chairs yet. We had a great meeting, but it was the next night that was most interesting. A smaller crowd, as would be expected–perhaps 200. What we didn’t know was that a witch had come to destroy the meeting–we soon found out he was being pretty successful for a time. The sound system immediately blew up. Now your logical mind may go to the fact that they were new into the building and hadn’t worked out all the “bugs” yet. But it seemed to be more than that. But that didn’t stop Paulo, my Brazilian translator, and me. We just shouted louder. There seemed to be a lot of resistance in the meeting and a lot of distractions. We pressed on anyway. After a few stories, I called up those who had problems in their arms, legs, backs, or heads–things that had gotten healed in the stories I told. As people would come up to me, there was no manifestation–no falling or shaking–but there was almost instant healing. The same thing was happening with the team we brought. They reported that everyone they prayed for got healed.
WICKED WITCH–NO PROBLEM FOR GOD
During the teaching, Paulo got a revelation from God. He “knew” there was blood sin on the property. It was later confirmed that there had been prostitution run from the building, and there had been blood sacrifices on the property. And there is a witch’s coven nearby. During the message I had told a story about a young man leading two witches to the Lord in a coffee shop. He prayed for the baptism of the Spirit with them speaking in tongues, and then them prophesying to him, quoting scriptures they did not know (but remember, they’ve just met the author). Thanks Jason for the story, and thanks Bill Johnson for teaching on the value of the testimony. The conviction of the Lord came all over this young man and he gave his life to Jesus, tore off his amulet and told the prayer team member he was going to go home and burn all his books!
THE HEALING ANOINTING TRANSFERS
One of the things we have really contended for on this trip is training and equipping the members of the church to minister, and that’s what my message was about. We had all the people we had trained at this church pray for the sick along with the US team. Toward the end of the evening, a young woman came up to Paulo and said she needed to be prayed for by one of the US team. But he said, “no, the anointing is on the Brazilian team, if you get prayed for by the US team you won’t get healed.” He wasn’t being mean, he was sensing the shift of the anointing of the Sprit. When we were up in the hospitality room eating before leaving, she came with the prayer team member. She was weeping. She had had a cancerous tumor in her throat that you could actually feel. During prayer it had disappeared!!. And the prayer team member–he had never prayed for anyone before!!
The warfare has been intense, but once again the Lord has shown Himself strong and victorious. The team is incredible. Working together, pressing thru little sleep, language barriers, never enough translators, and they seem to be having a ball, while getting “undone.” The worship has been wonderful and even though they often don’t put the words up on a screen, we have been able to enter into worship. Almost to a person they have been touched by the passion of these Brazilian people. There will be other reports coming out. Blessings.
